The journey of fetal development through sensory and consciousness milestones includes:
First Trimester:
Development of touch sensitivity. Surprisingly, sensory development begins early. By the end of the first trimester, the baby can sense touch around the lips and cheeks. This early interaction with their environment lays the groundwork for later sensory development.
Second Trimester:
The baby starts responding to sounds, recognizing the mother's voice. The sound of the mother's heartbeat, voice, and even external noises can influence the baby's state of calmness or alertness. This is a crucial time for emotional bonding through voice and music.
Third Trimester:
Taste buds are developed by now, and babies can taste differences in the amniotic fluid, influenced by the mother's diet. Light perception also develops, as babies open their eyes and respond to light and darkness.

The experiences an unborn baby undergoes in the womb from the sounds they hear to the emotions they sensecan shape their preferences, reactions, and even emotional health post-birth. For instance, consistent sounds of calm voices and music can enhance postnatal calmness and attentiveness.
